2 big reasons why your business may fall in love with Facebook, Pinterest and social media in general

Before we jump into it…what is social media?

Put simply, social media is all about building an online community of people interested in your business (customers, suppliers etc) and then keeping them constantly engaged with interesting or useful content (ie media).

It can be a loooot of work, so why do it?

Well, social media is one of the easiest ways to build a close and long term relationship with your customers and stakeholders, since you can communicate with 100s or 1000s of people at the same time, eg via Facebook, Twitter etc, and with just a few clicks of your mouse.

It’s also great for reminding existing customers about your fantastic services, so they come back more and also refer you more (hello word of mouth!).

Plus it increases the chances of influential people and sites out there seeing your content and sharing it themselves, which means higher Google rankings.

Are you using social media to engage your customers?
Are you using the RIGHT social media for your business?

How a little help from your online friends can make Google love you and drive 1000s of new visitors to your site

What’s the secret?

Link building.

This is all about getting other websites to link to your website. The reason this helps your site attract more visitors is because Google looks at links like votes of confidence.  So the more links you have – especially from quality sites – the more popular Google sees your site and the higher up the search rankings it will place you.

No wonder link building is one of the best ways to get more traffic!

How do you build links?

Unfortunately, there is no fast and scalable way to build links these days.  Instead you need to gain influential friends online and then be interesting, or create interesting content, for them to link to.

When link building, make sure…
  • The linking site is popular and trustworthy
  • Your content is engaging and ‘share-worthy’, and most of all that it is relevant for both their site and yours
  • Anchor text used by linking site is relevant, natural and diverse
  • Links are found inside unique body text, not footers, sidebars etc
  • You continually get new “fresh” links, ie always keep building!
  • You remove spammy links using Google’s Disavow Links Tool
Have you built high quality links to your website?
